The EXPO ALADI – Peru 2018 closed its fifth edition with the participation of more than 800 businessmen from the thirteen member countries of the ALADI and Costa Rica, who in two intensive days of negotiations attended more than 4600 meetings, and informed the intention of realizing about 2000 businesses for 182 million dollars.
The event, organized by the Latin-American Integration Association (ALADI) and Peru's Exports and Tourism Promotion Board - PROMPERU, was held from 17 to 19 October, at the Centro de Convenciones “27 de Enero”, in the city of Lima.
The macro-round convened the businessmen from the following sectors: processed food and beverages; car parts; leather and leather products; electrical equipment, and machinery, and agricultural equipment; pharmaceutical products, other chemical products and plastics, and medical equipment; textiles, clothing, and footwear, and services related to the TICs.
Just like in previous editions, the General Secretariat and the member countries provided businessmen with advice. Likewise, the EXPO ALADI joined together the Andean Community, MERCOSUR, SIECA, Association of Caribbean States, and the FAO.
Upon the successful closure, the following edition of EXPO ALADI – Colombia 2019 was officially announced, to be held in the city of Bucaramanga.
These results show that the efforts of the governments and integration organizations, with the businessmen, turn integration into a powerful tool in order to face the challenges caused by the uncertainty of the international context and the resurgence of the protectionism, as pointed out by the Secretary-General of the ALADI at the closure of the event.
